The big reveal came straight from Destination D23 2025, where the crowd lit up as Yvette Nicole Brown shared the news during the Walt Disney Studios showcase.  She announced that both Magic Kingdom’s TRON Lightcycle Run and Shanghai Disneyland’s TRON Lightcycle Power Run will be getting a dazzling Tron: Ares overlay. Picture the sleek Grid glowing in fiery reds and oranges, paired with an all new high energy soundtrack created by Nine Inch Nails, talk about a pulse pounding upgrade! This limited time transformation is Disney magic at its boldest, bringing fans a whole new way to race across the digital frontier.

Disney is even adding a few extra touches to make this overlay feel extra special.  Guests will be able to capture brand new PhotoPass ride photos that match the bold red look of the Grid, perfect for showing off your Lightcycle skills. And when the sun sets, the glowing canopy will shine brighter than ever, making the whole area around TRON feel alive with energy. These little details are what make Disney overlays so magical, turning a favorite ride into a brand new adventure you’ll want to experience again and again.

All of this excitement is leading up to the new movie Tron: Ares, coming to theaters on October 10th, 2025.
