It may still feel like summer, but over at Walt Disney World, Halloween has officially begun! Fall decorations are starting to appear throughout Magic Kingdom, with cheerful pumpkins lining Main Street, and festive touches popping up around the parks and resorts. Even more exciting, the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the season begins today, August 7th, marking the return of one of Disney's most beloved special events. The excitement is certainly building, with many of the early party dates already sold out. A sure sign that guests are eager to celebrate the Halloween season at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

If you've never experienced Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it's much more than just an evening of trick-or-treating. This separately ticketed event transforms Magic Kingdom into a festive Halloween celebration filled with exclusive entertainment, rare character appearances, specialty treats, shorter attraction wait times, and plenty of Disney magic. Whether you're dressing up in costume, watching the fan favorite Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, or ending the night with the spectacular nighttime show, it's easy to see why so many Disney fans consider this one of the highlights of the year.

What’s New in 2026

While all of the fan favorite entertainment is returning this year, Disney has sprinkled in a few new surprises for 2026. One of the biggest additions is Stich’s Masquerade Mashup at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland. It looks to be a fun dance party with Stitch, Lilo, Angel, and a costume trunk! What a fun new stop for families, and a great excuse to dance the night away!

Adventureland is also getting into the Halloween spirit with Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash, a new pirate themed interactive experience featuring Captain Jack Sparrow. Disney says that we can expect lively pirate encounters, music, and plenty of swashbuckling fun as Adventureland comes alive after dark.

Of course, Disney knows not to mess with the classics. Returning this year are all of the entertainment offerings that have made Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party a guest favorite year after year.

Entertainment You Won’t Want to Miss

If you're able to fit a parade in during your party, Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade is spectacular! The parade starts off at 8:15pm & 11:15pm, beginning in Frontierland before making its way through Liberty Square and down Main Street.

The Disney Nerds biggest tip? Skip the first parade and watch the 11:15pm performance instead. Most guests line up for the earlier parade, making the second one noticeably less crowded. If you're hoping for a spot along Main Street, plan to claim your location 45 to 60 minutes before the parade begins. If you don't mind watching in Frontierland or Liberty Square, you can often arrive a little later and still find an excellent view. This is what we always do, and it works out great!

And don't forget to keep your eyes on the parade route before the music even begins... the legendary Headless Horseman rides through first, setting the stage for one of the most unforgettable moments of the entire evening (weather permitting, of course)! Disney characters usually wear special Halloween outfits, including Daisy Duck, Clarabelle Cow, and Minnie Mouse dressed up as the Sanderson Sisters.

Another returning favorite is the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular on the Castle Stage in front of Cinderella Castle. Hosted by the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus, this is one of my favorite stage shows that brings together Disney villains like Hades, Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, and Maleficent for a fun mix of music, projections, special effects, and plenty of villainous humor. There are usually multiple performances throughout the evening.

Be sure to stay for Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, the party's exclusive nighttime fireworks show over Cinderella Castle. The combination of projections, fireworks, lasers, and Jack Skellington's storytelling makes this one of my family’s favorite nighttime spectaculars at Walt Disney World. They are spooky and fun and just give you all the fun Disney feels. Fireworks are scheduled for 10:00pm every party night.

You'll also find the wonderfully punny Cadaver Dans roaming Frontierland throughout the evening. This undead barbershop quartet puts a Halloween twist on classic harmonies and always draws a crowd. We never miss a chance to stop and enjoy a performance. They're one of those charming little details that make the party feel so special. We always have a good chuckle!

Food, Treats and Collectibles

Half the fun of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is sampling the limited time food and drinks that only appear during the Halloween season. This year's menu includes several brand new treats, including the Doom Buggy Dumplings (Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square) and the spooky Skull-icious Cake (Pecos Bill in Frontierland), alongside returning guest favorites like the Ursula Cone (Storybook Treats in Fantasyland) and the Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie (The Friar's Nook in Fantasyland). Whether you have a sweet tooth or prefer something savory, there are plenty of themed snacks to add to your must try list at the party.

And for collectors, don't forget to keep an eye out for this year's event exclusive merchandise. There will be a new party popcorn bucket and specialty souvenirs that will be available during the event, although quantities are always limited and popular items have been known to sell out early in the season.

Costumes, Candy & Character Meet and Greets

One of the things that makes Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party so unique is that guests of all ages are invited to dress up in costume! During regular park hours, adults aren't permitted to wear costumes, but this special event is the exception. Whether you go all out with an elaborate Disney inspired costume or simply throw on a festive Halloween T-shirt and Mickey ears, you'll fit right in. Just remember to check Disney's costume guidelines before you arrive.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Halloween party without trick-or-treating! Complimentary treat bags are handed out as you enter the park, and you'll find treat trails set up throughout Magic Kingdom where Cast Members happily fill your bag with handfuls of candy. Even better, if you or someone in your party has food allergies or dietary restrictions, simply let the Cast Member know. You'll receive a special teal treat bag and then teal tokens at each candy station that can later be exchanged for allergy friendly treats at designated Allergy Friendly Centers. As someone with food sensitivities myself, I really appreciate that Disney makes sure everyone can enjoy the fun. They’re always very accommodating for those of us who have food allergies.

If meeting Disney characters is high on your priority list, the Halloween Party is one of the best times of the year to visit. Many characters appear in special Halloween costumes, while others only make appearances during the party. In 2026, guests can look for favorites including Jack Skellington and Sally, Mickey and Minnie in their Halloween attire, Winnie the Pooh and friends in adorable costumes, the Disney Princesses with their visiting princes, and several Disney villains throughout the evening. Character lines can become quite long, so if there's someone you absolutely don't want to miss, consider making them one of your first stops after the party officially begins or waiting until later in the evening (about an hour before the party ends).

Planning your Party

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes place on select nights from August 7th through October 31st, 2026, with 45 party dates this year. Tickets range from $119 to $229 USD (plus tax) depending on the date, with weekends and dates closer to Halloween typically being the most expensive. If you're planning to attend, it's definitely worth purchasing your tickets as early as possible.

The party officially runs from 7:00pm until midnight, but one of the best perks is that guests with a party ticket can enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00pm, even without purchasing regular daytime park admission. This gives you three extra hours to enjoy attractions, grab dinner, or take a few pictures before the exclusive entertainment begins.

Already spending the day in Magic Kingdom? You don't need to leave the park. During the late afternoon, Cast Members will direct party guests to special wristband distribution locations throughout the park. Once you've received your event wristband, you can continue enjoying the park while day guests begin exiting before the party officially starts at 7:00pm. It's a smooth process, and by staying in the park you'll already be in position to head to your first must do attraction, character meet-and-greet, or entertainment offering as soon as the party begins.

Is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party Worth It?

After all the entertainment, exclusive characters, delicious treats, Halloween decorations, and magical moments, it's easy to see why Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party continues to be one of Walt Disney World's most popular special events. Whether you're visiting with little ones excited to collect candy, Disney fans hoping to meet rare characters, or adults who simply love the atmosphere of walking through Magic Kingdom after dark in a Halloween costume, there is something truly special about this celebration.

What makes this party stand out is that it doesn't feel like just another ticketed event, it feels like a completely different way to experience Magic Kingdom. The glow of Cinderella Castle, the sound of the Cadaver Dans singing in Frontierland, the excitement of seeing the Headless Horseman ride down the parade route, and the joy of watching guests of all ages embrace their favorite costumes all come together to create memories.

While it can be tempting to try to experience every character, attraction, treat, and entertainment offering in one evening, our biggest piece of advice is to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere. Take time to admire the Halloween details, enjoy the special entertainment, and let yourself experience the magic that makes this event so loved year after year.
