600 Episodes of Magic: Celebrating a Milestone with The Disney Nerds Podcast!
Can you believe it? 600 episodes. When we first turned on the microphones, we never could have imagined we’d be sitting here, over a decade later, celebrating such an incredible milestone. It feels like just yesterday we were recording our very first show, fueled by nothing but a shared obsession with the mouse, the parks, and the magic.
But every great story has an origin, and ours started in a slightly different corner of the Disney podcasting universe.
The Origin: From a Family Affair to The Disney Nerds
Long before the Disney Nerds Podcast was even a thought, I was running a show called the We're Going to Walt Disney World podcast. It wasn’t a solo gig; it was a beautiful, chaotic family project that I hosted alongside my son, Quinn, and my daughter, Hope.
We loved sharing our family vacation excitement with anyone who would listen.
Then came Jimmy.
Jimmy stumbled upon our family podcast, listened to our dynamic, and reached out. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we shared a massive, unapologetic passion for all things Disney. The synergy was undeniable.
We thought, "Why not take this to the next level?" In 2013, we officially launched The Disney Nerds Podcast. Quinn and Hope helped us lay the foundation of our Disney broadcasting journey, and from those family-focused roots, a whole new kingdom of nerdy fandom was born.
A True Team Effort: Lifelong Friends & Incredible Guests
While Jimmy and I may have kicked things off back in 2013, 600 episodes don't happen in a vacuum. The Disney Nerds Podcast quickly evolved from a two-man show into a massive team effort.
Over the last 13 years, we’ve been incredibly blessed to welcome a rotating roundtable of co-hosts. These aren't just people we talk to once a week through a computer screen—these are lifelong friends who have become family. We’ve shared laughs, debated the merits of different park snacks, argued over ride closures, and supported each other through life's biggest moments.
Beyond our brilliant co-hosts, we have to talk about our guests. We’ve had the honor of interviewing legendary Disney historians, incredible Cast Members, DVC experts, and authors who have provided deep dives into the history and mechanics of the company we love so much. Every single guest has brought a unique piece of Pixie Dust to the show.
600 Episodes of Every Kind of Show Imaginable
If you look back through our catalog of 600 episodes, you’ll find that we’ve never been afraid to mix things up! We’ve spent over a decade covering every corner of the Disney spectrum:
Deep Dives into History: Looking back at the 1964 World's Fair or tracing the evolution of Tomorrowland.
The Practical Stuff: Breaking down the newest summer deals, exploring DVC options, and giving you the ultimate breakdown of our everyday park bag carry.
The Fun & Wacky: Dedicating entire segments to old-time 1938 Mickey Mouse radio shows, reviewing the top park lounges, or simply gushing over Jimmy’s ultimate safe haven, the Skipper Canteen.
No matter what we're talking about, our goal has always been to make you feel like you're sitting on a living room couch (or at a Disney resort lounge) chatting with your best friends.
Our Favorite Place to Be: Hanging in the Parks
As much as we love the recording studio and our Wednesday night live streams, nothing…absolutely nothing…compares to hanging out in the parks together.
The absolute best part of this 600-episode journey has been the meetups. Walking down Main Street, U.S.A., grabbing a drink at the Gurgling Suitcase, sharing a laugh at Adventureland, and watching the fireworks with our co-hosts, listeners, and friends is what it’s truly all about. The podcast brought us together online, but Walt Disney World gave us a place to cement those bonds in person.
Thank You, Disney Nerds!
To everyone who has listened to Show #1, Show #599, or anywhere in between: Thank you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your morning commutes, your workout playlists, and your vacation planning sessions. We do this for the love of the magic, but we keep doing it because of you.
Here’s to the laughs, the memories, the lifelong friendships, and the next 600 episodes!
